Stars Watch

Nick Petrecki — 6'3 200 pound former Boston College Eagle defenseman is a punishing force for the Worcester Ice Cats, AHL. The San Jose Sharks first round draft pick is developing quickly in his rookie campaign and will be a NHL defenseman in the near future.

Zach Bogosian — 6'2 210 pound defenseman is having a great year in the NHL, the 19 year-old star was named the assistant captain of the Atlanta Thrashers by his peers. This great young man is a super star in the making and a terrific role model and leader.

Max Pacioretty — 6'3 200 pound left winger for the Montreal Canadiens is a great young talent and will be a force in the NHL for years to come. Max scored on his very first shot in the NHL. He combines great size, skill and toughness.

Justin Mercier — After a great career at Miami of Ohio and a heart breaking loss to Boston University in the NCAA Championship game last April, Justin is enjoying much success in the NHL as a rookie with the Colorado Avalanche. He scored his first NHL goal against the Minnesota Wild!

James Wisniewski — "Wiz" was a great kid and player at Pro Star back when the camp was at RPI in New York. James is a solid and tough defenseman for the Anaheim Ducks. He started his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks and was a big part of their success. "Wiz" was an OHL Rookie of the Year, OHL All-Star selection and CHL Defenseman of the Year all with the Plymouth Whalers.

Silver & Gold

It was not meant to be for the US Olympic Hockey Team as they dropped a 3-2 OT loss to Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Former Pro Star Ryan Miller was sensational in goal for the US and was tournament MVP. Ryan is one of the classiest individuals you could ever meet. Also Pro Stars Tim Gleason, Ryan Whitney and Jonathan Quick played key roles on the team. We are very proud of these great players and people.

Congratulations to Gold Medal winners Ryan Bourque (QJMHL), Brian Lashoff (OHL), asst. captain David Warsofsky (Boston U), Jack Campbell (USNTDP) and John Carlson (Hershey Bears/Washington Capitals) on their outstanding play in the World Junior Championships in Saskatchewan, Canada. Carlson (1st round pick/Washington) has won a Calder Cup championship in the AHL and a WJC in a year. He scored 2 goals including the game winning OT goal the final game versus Canada. Warsofsky was outstanding for the US Team and then returned home and scored the historic first goal for BU in their victory over BC in "Frozen Fenway Park" game. Quite an experience for these guys!

Congratulations to Jimmy Hayes, Malcolm Lyles and Ben Smith of Boston College on their victory over Boston University in the 2010 Beanpot Hockey Tournament. BU top recruit Matt Nieto played up with the US U-18 team and won a Gold Medal in the U-18 World Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Matt impressed many NHL scouts at the tournament and was the youngest player in the tournament. He will be a top first round draft pick 2011.

Ryan Hegarty is playing exceptionally well for the University of Maine Black Bears and is one of the best young defensemen in Hockey East. Also, Ben Murphy who was a standout player for Maine is the asst. coach for the Bentley Falcons of the Atlantic Hockey League. Ben has a great eye for talent and is brining the Falcons top recruits. Corey Falite continues to be a scoring machine for the University of Lowell. Corey has been a top scorer in Hockey East for the last two years.

USA World Junior Gold Medal goalie Jack Campbell has changed his mind of backstopping the University of Michigan in 2010 and will play for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. Former LA Selects Max Edson is being recruited by several Division I programs including defending NCAA Champions Boston University. He is at Salisbury Prep with another California standout Matt Caito. Matt is a very skilled D-man ’93 who is already receiving Division I looks. Gritty Gunner Hughes has committed to Saint Lawrence to play with his brother George, also an alumnus, and Aaron Bogosian. Ryan Segalla the fifteen–year-old defenseman for the Bridgewater Bandits Empire team is in the next wave of college commitments. He impressed the Pro Star staff last season and is getting a lot of attention.
